I'm a restricted househusband at the moment and spend pretty much most of my days on the internet, the wife is in training to be a nurse and as i was recently made redundant we decided i should stay at home till she finished studying lol. Sooooo i'm trying to find ways of making a little money and thought i'd ask you peeps if the internet was a viable way of generating some pocket money or not Any and all advice/suggestions will be much appreciated!! Thx in advance.
The best and fastest way to make money on the internet it to sell stuff on ebay, it takes a little time and patience to get it going properly though.
Find a niche that's not over abused, then find a few products you can sell for a profit that won't cost a lot to get you going, then sell them.
There's actually loads of genuine home working sites which aren't just trying to rip you off on the net too. .. doing stuff like word processing for internet companies and stuff like that. I did it for a while and made a couple of grand in about 3 weeks reviewing all the different banks and building societies for Charcol Online. A lot of websites actually have adverts on them for home working staff too.
Either that or perhaps build a website for something that hasn't been done to death, then get advertisers and stuff and make some money that way.
It is possible to make a good living from it. I hopefully will one day, when I get TF to a stage where I actually start making money instead of losing every month.

that sounds brilliant, but I suppose you needed business experience to review the banks though?

At the time I had just finished working as a project manager at the Woolwich Bank in their mortgages customer support department, which is why I think I got that one.
There's loads around though for all sorts of different things.
Another one I did was checksum error processing (basically looking for bugs in their scripts and fixing them) for Ciao.com when they first started. It didn't pay a lot, but it was pocket money when I was first starting my own little business.
One example for me, imagine I had enough money to actually pay someone to do reviews and gaming guides for TF, I could advertise on TF itself and the chances are, a user from TF would come along and snap it up and churn out thousands of reviews for me, where as I am stuck at the moment with so many other things I can hardly even begin to add them. (Might happen one day)

How do you get advertising on your web site where if someone clicks on the link you get 5p i.e. like the ones on your site.

It's a damn sight harder than it would first appear to be honest.
Tradedouble.com is a really good affiliate network where you cn host banners and what not, a few companies accept everyone that applies, but a lot of the companies actually hand check every applicant and see if the website is compatible and has enough traffic.
Then there is the different ways in which they pay:
Leads - Per newsletter sign up, etc (normally a few pence - I don't use this type)
Sales - you only make if someone actually buys something through your site (my game banner on the front page is like that)
Pay Per Click - They only have 2 companies that use this method properly Advertising.com and Valueclick.com both which pay between 2p and 20p per click depending on the traffic you send to their advertisers. Both companies are very fussy about the people who they accept too. (I was lucky to get accepted by both because I get 500,000+ hits a month through out my little empire)
I make roughly £80 a month through tradedoubler at the moment which is really not enough, considering I pay out well over £200 a month for hosting... :/ My savings are gradually going down all the time.
The best method to make money advertising is to use pop-up ads as you can make something like £3 per 1,000 impressions. I'd be laughing if I did that method, but I hate pop-ups and refuse to go near them.

Unfortunately I don't think so, I stopped doing that sort of work about 5 computers and 3 years ago. I'll have a look around my old disks in the morning and see if I can dig a few up from an old back up of my favourites at some stage though and post them on here for anyone that might be interested.
I may have to consider something like that again myself anyway before too long, to help balance the books while TF is still young and taking off. Otherwise i'll be eating dry bread and water for Christmas lunch.

I'm just playing with the main webpage layout at the mo to fit more content onto it and stuff, as it looks a bit bare at the mo and i'm not happy with it being basically nothing but the news which I have on at the mo.
Skyman - The best thing would probably be for you to come over one day and have a drink and I'd be able to actually show you the sorts of thing I mean directly a I have a few things on the computer which woul help.
