the problem i have here is i hate the 1024 x 768 resolution i have got going on......i have two displays with my 9800 the secondary one allows me to use anythin above that i.e. 1600 x 1200 but the problem i have is, as soon as i hit apply it reverts back to the default display....hence only being able to use 1024 x 768
anyone know how to make it use the secondary display?
edit - it says 2. is the default monitor, but that is lies as i cant apply resolution settings to that one.
On your Catylist settings you should have 2 monitors on it make sure there both Enabled and you have selected "extend My Desktop to this monitor" then in Catyliyst"..."grr hate that word lol" just selct the resolutions you want for each monitor ..........and btw 1600 *1200 what Inch are these monitors

i have one monitor and i think its 17" its when i select the secondary one, which is the display i want to use, as the primary only allows 1024 x 768, the secondary allows more....

to make things simple
i have a 9800
1x monitor
all i want is a res higher than 1024 x 768
i cant cos it wont let me apply as it reverts back to the plug n play monitor thing.
and i really dont like 1024 x 768 its horrible, icons are too big...
edit, if you look at the screenshot again, its not showing 2 monitors its showing 2 different settings...all i want is to use the seconday lot of settings for the resolution...seondary settings allow higher resolutions, but it aint letting me!

Secondry driver is normally used for another monitor for duel display that's why the button says "extend my destop to this monitor", you cannot have a 1600*1200 diplay on a 17" monitor you need at LEAST a 21 " for that I reccommend you try the resolution 1280*1024 which is perfectly fine for a 17" and it should be fine after that.
Let's make things simple shall we
Press Identify...this will show you which monitor is been used click it and then select the resolution you want I reccomend 1280*1024 anything above that is stupid.
On the Display settings you select your Primary Display (which should be your plug and play monitor, if not then set it as primary) not your Secondary because you obviously don't have a secondary as you clearly stated you only have one monitor therefore it's impossible to have a secondary.
Just click Primary and then change resolution to one supported by your monitor. I use a 17" TFT and use 1280*1024 optimal resolution.

one would think so, but i cannot use anything higher than 1024x768 i dont want 1600x1200 just wanted something better than 1024x768, but never mind if it cant be done just easier on the poor eyes thats all lol.

It can't be made any more simple.
not really, as the highest resolution the default allows is 1024x768 and it really is annoying me lol/
If you really want to change the look of your icons to make the illusion your scrren is bigger follows these intrustions...
Right click your desktop then go to properties > Appearence > Advanced then on Drop down menu labeled Icon go to "Icon" adjust the number to the right of it to whatever suits you, I recommend as I use it and have same resolution.

oh yeah i overclocked the 9800 last night, runs alot better now, the standard clock speed is something like 350mhz or whatever it was, ive altered the core speed to 460mhz ish, and dont worry about the temp of the card, i got an arctic cooler welded to it, so im safe
