Hi all,
In the last months, due to my wedding, I got a lot of photos from family and friends. Even to the point where the available space of my harddrive is less as 10%. Instead of just increasing the capacity of my PC, I was thinking of buying a centralized external harddrive where all computers within my network can make a connection to. The external harddrive will be used for data storage and not just as backup drive. Since I want to minimize the risk of data loss when the drive crashes I am looking for a special system.
The solution I currently found is:
Drobo. in combination with the droboshare to put it within my network. With the beyondRAID technology I'm more confortable that the risk for dataloss is minimized. The extra benefit to it that it can be used cross platform as I am thinking to buy a macbook for my wife (see other thread).
What do you think of this system? Are there other solutions you think are worth to consider and I should look at? Thanks in advance for any feedback
