I've been testing it for some months now, and I gotta say it's a lot
more stable than the Vista beta was, it's a lot more compatible with 3rd party
progs than Vista was even after release
and I'm finding it more responsive and easier to use, for sure I aint seeing
that damned blue 'wait a minute' cursor quite as much as the last time,
I might look forward to buying a copy on the day of release (unlike Vista )
I'm still satisfied by XP at the moment. Not gone anywhere near Vista, so I think i'm likely to just jump straight to Windows 7. But to answer your question, no, i'm not a Windows 7 tester personally.
I use Vista at work and XP at home. I prefer XP Not a W7 tester. Not sure if I'm looking forward to it. Given the problems of the Vista release I think I'll wait for quite a while.
I always thought vista was fine, but jumped on because it became cool to do so, because it seemed a good upgrade to XP to me, aside from having higher system requirements.
I havent bothered installing W7, but isnt it essentially just a service pack and a facelift for vista. Interestingly about drivers, last i heard W7 had exactly the same driver model as Vista, so there shouldnt be any difference?
I'm seriously thinking about trying it out on a new drive i have. Its supposed to be to vista what xp was to 2000 so I am tempted - just not got time atm.
It feels different to Vista, gone is the stupid UAC that pops out a window about permission
every time you click on it, the sidebar gadgets are fully detachable,
there's greater provision for touchscreen monitors and other types of sensor input,
the 'run' button makes a return, there's hi definition icons,ie8...
a lot of the performance gremlins have gone, there's even a little wizard that pops up in
the notification area to make you aware of any pc issues, like software and driver conflicts,
or updates (even 3rd party) that contain bugfixes,
Win7 appears to use the Vista driver model at the moment, and a lot of the o/s
is a rip off of Vista, but looking at some of the later beta builds, these are beginning to be
refined and redifined for a more Win7 unique feel,
MS also appear to be responding to user feedback, which I find unusual,
when i clear this drive again i'll download the latest leaked beta and probably
post some screens as well.
shows the gadgets than are now free from the taskbar
the new scoring system that now numbers up to 6.5
and a tool for managing notification icons
also the new looking icons for familiar filenames, and for startup
menu labels.
