Xbox Latest 360 Shipping Figures.

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2042532,00.asp

Microsoft Corp. on Thursday said it has shipped 6 million Xbox 360 video game consoles worldwide since releasing the unit about a year ago.

The company is "confident" it can meet its target to ship 10 million of its next-generation game consoles by the end of 2006, Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell said in an interview.

In July, Microsoft said it had shipped 5 million Xbox 360s.

The software giant, which competes with Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. Ltd. in the video game console market, said 3.6 million units have already been sent to North America, 1.7 million went to Europe and that about 700,000 went to other regions.

Always get confused with the whole shipped/sold thing?

Is this good news?
Well 4 million 360 on shelves at christmas sounds great for the GOW rush and the battle with Sony and Nintendo
But only shipping 1 million since July and now seems lazy to me.

Wish it had been units sold, all we know is it must be less then 6 million at the moment.

The figures don't sound too bad, will probably sell alot this Christmas without the PS3 to contend with them.
As for the low shipped amount during the summer its usually a quiet period for sales (people saving for Christmas) so thats possibly the reason for only having shipped 1m since July.
Its nice to see the 360 doing quite well and having a second Christmas to itself without the PS3 will be a massive boost to it, the only down side to the 360 is its owned by Microsoft
I don't think Microsoft have considered the new Nintendo console as a competitor to be honest, but with games like Zelda and Mario in the works I can see loads of people getting one instead of a 360 especially for younger kids (of course the Zelda and Mario games must be in the same league that they were when released on the N64! And not like thoes released for the GC ).

it will have to contend with the ps3 (not in europe of course) to a degree though as you think sony are just gonna ship 500k units in november between japan and USA then stop until after xmas? no chance, they will try to get atleast 1mill units out between november and the end of december (id say they would give 800k to the USA and 200k to japan)

of course though the 360's main competition will probably be the Wii for a while yet and i expect the Wii to sell around 2/3 million this between its launch and the end of the year.

i think the 360 will probably sell about 2million between now and the end of the year bringing them up to around 8mill sold since release.
