Console and Console Gaming DiscussionIf you have something on your mind regarding the many consoles available, hand held devices or any the great games available for them, then you should use this section to chat about them.
Ive noticed that for a while uve been going "LOL 360 SUCKS!".
You started off liking yours, what changed?
While I don't recall saying 'LOL 360 SUCKS', I can see why you'd think I don't like it.
I do still like it, and play it when I have the time. However, I get extremely annoyed with fanboyish type things that go on. Perhaps I've just grown more cynical, but I play my Dead or Alive more than Dead Rising and N3 put together. I can't be arsed with the fanboyish type stuff. Why not just enjoy the games and stuff? I mean it's not like we're here to sell each other consoles.
If it was the other way around and it was 360 coming out in Nov i am sure all PS3 fanboys would be acting like ****ers too.
It will all change by next year, main reason its easy for 360 fanboys is because they have a console to back up their argument while the others are only working with info to help them.
Not as easy to say PS3 is crap at something when millions of people will be ready to tell you its not an issue.
Some of the comments on this make me ashamed to have a 360. It is obviously going to be eclipsed by ps3, and that is why it will be going into the den to make way for the ps3 in the living room when it comes out.
360 is the least value for money console i've had. About 4 decent games since it came out, that's like £100 a game. And apparently I need an add-on drive to play HD-DVD's.... f**k that.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I was wondering what people still think about the two consoles, especially now Blue Ray is the winner of the new DVD formats.
Funnily enough I've only recently got into my Xbox despite owning it for nearly two years. I think the fact that I've bought a new TV helps as I couldn't make out what was going on on the 20 inch job I had. I've just completed FEAR which is arguably the best single player game I've ever played and now moved onto Oblivion which is extremely addictive ><

I know the PS3 is better, but I just prefer the xbox. I like the games more and I might be a little bit of a microsoft fanboy *ducks for cover*.
I would like a PS3, just can't justify the money with already owning a 360.
Bit disappointed with the game lineup at the moment though, last game I played on my xbox was mass effect which was excellent, would have looked better on my PC if they hadn't kept that secret though ¬.¬
Anyone know any decent upcoming games for the 360?
I love my PS3 it pushes all the right buttons and is for me much more than a console for playing games in HD.
The media player, upscaler and blu-ray drive make that bit extra paid over the 360 so much more worth while.
The games on PS3 are only just beginning to make it warm up and will inevitably increase in size, complexity and playability and when they run out of disc space on a single layer blu-ray then they can add more by offering them on dual-layer.
The network side of PS3 is improving all the time and with the current release of firmware they introduced gaming trophies.
They also look far better than 360 and dont have a brick attached to them to keep them going.
oh and did i mention i can play it stood on its end or laid down and the PS button rotates so its still the right way up
PS3 is better because I can play all my XBOX 360 games on my PC about 3 months after they come out on XBOX and with better graphics. There's no real reason to own both a PC and an XBOX, just get the PC wireless 360 controller.
It's an expensive controller but it's a lot cheaper than the console and all your games are free.
I don't have a ps3 so cant say really. I didnt get one because of the price and also this thing where you cant play older games on it. Its like cars, there are ford people and vouxall people and volvo people, you get the drift.... theres also xbox people and ps people, just like wii people too!
I got the 360 at launch and didn't regret it. It's a fantastic little machine & spent loads of hours on it playing with frieds over Live - both existing real life ones and new ones met in-game. If the 360 had a bluray drive I would have been content.
But I had this flashy new HD TV and no bluray player so.... I took the plunge, broke the bank and got one of the last 60gb PS3's just as they were getting phased out.
In terms of gaming I think the 360 wins hands down. Not on the quality of games as I think that's an eternal argument - there's nothing in it - but due to Xbox Live, the number of games and the controller design.
If I could choose only one I would go for the 360 at the moment and have a standalone Bluray as that's mostly what I use my PS3 for. There's nothing wrong with it at all, it's just until the online properly catches up with Live I dont buy multiplats for it and exclusives are thin on the ground.
The recent in-game XMB update was a major step in the right direction here but the trophies are a waste of time IMO (although that's mainly as I don't really understand them or like how they are portrayed in people's profiles).
I think the only things I would really need to see are...
- being able to see when friends were last on, what games they have played and how recently,
- chatting to friends whilst playing different games.
- Also, last but not least, PS Store needs a mini overhaul. It's looks swish but is a pain for browsing content. Market place is miles ahead there and that's before Live's big autumn make-over. Try something as simple as finding a list of demos on European PSN. You can't.
Once Sony has that little list licked in to shape I would say PSN could essentially claim it's level pegging. And the advantage of the Bluray player will truely start to make a difference. I think people are seeing this now to a small extent but if Sony can annull Live then the world is their oyster. Things like the games portfolio (which is growing) and out-dated controller design wont matter any more.
Edit: I'm not saying Live is perfect, at least one thing that is long overdue is having access to the xbox.com forums. How can it be a community if you can't do that? PS3 had that right from the start with it's net browser. You want to check comments or get help on a game you have to go turn you pc on.

ps3 controllers are designed for little jap hands and girly men, where as the xbox controllers are designed for manly american oafs.
Sony have done a few things right, but how many of their sales are primarily as a bluray player rather than as a console?
I expect a lot of gamers have more than one console anyway, its not like theyre that much more expensive than the games
I got my PS3 for the blu-ray and to play my old PSX and PS2 games cause my PS2 was breaking down. lol
Its SO bloody awful playing the PS3 after the smoothness, quickness and comfortable playing of the 360.
The PS3 is just not comfortable, it hasnt changed since the PlayStation bar analog.....i mean thats like 15 years!? and they havnt changed it and they did NOT get it right to begin with.
It is just a hassle to play, with its ugly interface, slow downloads, horrible marketplace, having to install all your updates and demos.....which take hours to download.
And playing online is DULL, due to the fact NO ONE has a head set, so you cant work together or even make friends......the 360 has none of these problems.....the PS3 has a LOT of catching up to do.
