Console and Console Gaming DiscussionIf you have something on your mind regarding the many consoles available, hand held devices or any the great games available for them, then you should use this section to chat about them.
And I prefer the 360 because I concider the PS2 and PS3 to be largley Japanease crap. Every game seems to have big billowing dresses and samurai swords. And every game seems to take itself to seriously.
The games on the 360 are more westen games and those are the games I prefer.
And I can get all those games I prefer on the 360, but with the advantage of Live.
The only game I openly admit that will probably be good on the PS3 that the 360 wont have, is MGS4. But I do have my reservations about that game aswel. Im not sure I want to sit through another game with 20 min cut scenes where everything is over acted, and not in a good way.

Wow, you've amazingly reviewed MGS4 wayyyyyy before release.
How can I acquire one of these time machines ?
Good job MGS is the biggest selling sleath series EVER then, looks like 360s biggest contender is Splinter Cell Double Agent and oops, looks like every other console is getting that as well.
Yeah I will agree, MGS2 was the only MGS with long cutscenes, the script was massive though which is always what you can expect from Koj.
Now you claim that 360 has western games which you prefer but with the exception of a few console exclusives all the consoles have round about the same game lineup so that comment is a bit naff if you ask me.
Like it or not, the Japanese are inventive and take gaming very seriously, in fact its western companies that usually turn out the crap games.

' lol '
Oh and Sony are not entirely depending on the PS3 at all. Sony's audio products are massive in America and Sony Pictures is an extremely succesful branch, SoE arent exactly doing bad either and all still have a massive amount of share holders.
*Edit*
I see the Wii as the annoying youngest brother, Always has to be involved in everything his older brothers do but can never do it quite as good
Personally I don't care about what games are on what, that chip.... well I'd kill any one of you for it.
... OK.
Personally, I can see why people would want a PS3 more than a 360, it's more well known, so people trust it more as people will base the 360 off of the pile of lame that was the XBox. Also, it does have some exclusives, or probably will have some exclusives that are well known already. Also, Fall Of Man looks really good. However, at the price they are asking, I just wouldn't at least not for a fair while.
Riiiight. Isn't that kind of like buying a top spec PC and only running notepad on it? You don't give a **** how it's used you just want to say you have it? I don't think I've ever heard of some one wanting a console just because they want to say they have the processor that's in it. Seems like a strange reason to me unless you have some sort of CPU fetish.
PS2 can run linux. Give it a month after release and PS3 can. Now look at beowulf systems. Then you can say riiiight all you like.
Just because people like you don't realise the implications doesn't mean those of us with a brain bigger than a pea can't.
Oh, and if you want it in easy terms....
Bye bye 1024bit encryption, as anyone with a few PS3's running in a parellel setup will be able to crack it.
But if you want to believe it's a "CPU fetish" I suggest you look at the wider implications. Maybe at what the fully functioning cell chips will be deployed into.
Honestly, who gives a **** about it's gaming capabilites? We're talking about raw processing power, of super computer level, being offered at home user cost.
Hmm long thread, were a few things I wanted to say and I forgot most while reading the rest of it lol.
But anyway if the fanboy comments directed at me, no im not. I think its a great console but I never go around finding dirt on Sony/Nintendo, just give honest opinions. I would give the same if I had no console.
The biggest letdown for me as well, is Microsoft have not announced a FF game on the 360. Except for the online one of course. But even that doesnt bother me that much, theres not been a proper FF game out in years so I kinda lost interest. Next is 12 at the end of the year, which I may plug in my PS2 one more time to enjoy. But I'm not forking out £500 to play 13. Im happy with Oblivion atm ta.
Saying that, Microsoft have been working with Playonline/Square for a while with XI on PC and xbox. So the base is there to launch games if they wanted to, which I hope they will.
It really does depend how sony play it. As it stands they are going to be the last release of the next gens. They will lose the 'spoilt kids pressuring parents for the next new thing this christmas' market and probably wont do so well on release because of the stupid price.
In the next gen wars multiplayer plays a HUGE part in it now. Live is fantastic, easily connectible, rarely drops out, easy to get going. That might be because Microsoft have more expierience in that field. You better hope Sony hire the right people to develop theirs.

i think it is a CPU fetish
Ok first off he wasnt even havng a proper go at you or the cell so dont blow your top?
As far as i know the PS3 will not use the full power of the cell so all this talk about it raw power and super computers is redundant in a that context.
Unless you actually plan to buy a few PS3s to break 1024bit encryption.
If you particularly fancy buying a few Ps3s, taking the cell out and attempting to hook it up to a computer, sure, you have fun with that, but I can't see sony making it easy for you. And i assure you my brain is bigger than a pea. I think you need to chill the **** out and stop being such a sad man.

Maybe the people from SoE?

You run an OS on the PS3, You dont take it apart and put the chip in a PC.

I'm not blowing my top, he quoted me orginally and said it was a CPU fetish. Maybe because he's too stupid to realise just what the PS3 brings to the table outside of him being a sad loner who only plays games,
Those with the money and the foresight will be snapping up these bits of hardware at stupidly low prices and getting the hardware and capabilites for amazing processing power at bargain basement prices.
The PS3 will be using chips that aren't flawless, 7 cores out of the 8 will be functioning I believe. The flawless (8 out of 8 functioning cores) will be sold to governmental institutes etc.
Maybe it is a CPU fetish, I don't really care about what games it'll run as I already have a PC,
The original topic was why the PS3 over the XBOX360, and seeing as more than gamers will be looking at the PS3's due to what the hardware can offer outside gaming it's clear which will win. Also remember gamers have **** all buying power when it's pit against businesses and research,
eg : Do I spend £200k on this new super computer or do I spend £10k on a cluster of PS3s. Hmmmmm.

A sad man?
Take the chip out to hook up the PC?
WTF are you on?
Thanks for proving you really are mentally ******ed. Try and think of the bigger picture here. We're talking of a CPU with a network interface and local storage that can run an OS... meaning it can be used in a distributed system. And you still maintain you have a brain larger than a pea?
Btw, I wasn't the one who went back and deleted my post like someone who realised I'd talked a load of ****.
Chill out? I'm perfectly chilled, I just don't think you should be allowed to consistently post a load of **** on the forums when it's clear you have no ****ing clue wtf you are talking about.
