The kids went to put the xbox on yesterday only to find the screen frozen on one of the profiles, the controllers wont connect either any suggestions that dont include it been slung in the bin?
Drew switched it on and the screen froze as it was turned on, its on Andy's dashboard thingy. The image isnt too clear as their are bits missing. The box itself will open and let you put a game in you can hear it moving but the screen stays frozen. The controllers wont connect to the box and the circle just keeps going round and around, I tried pressing the connect button but the one on the xbox just goes round and round for a while then stops. Iv changed batteries in both controllers and it does the same.
Hope thats a help, not had a chance to do any of the stuff on the support site yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I went to try a few things the site suggested but when I switched it on.... guess what I had? Yep the red ring of death, so its getting shipped back to microsoft, hopefuly they will sort it

I will check but I was in the understanding that it was free for them to fix it. Iv noticed a few places on the net that say that it can be fixed reletivly easy. But gonna see what m/s say first.
Xbox went with the currier today addess on it is somewhere in frankfurt!! Thats probably why they say it takes at least 2 weeks for them to look at it. So fingers crossed its the right fault that will get it fixed for free
I love the xbox but I wish we had got a ps3 now Iv not heard of any one having to send theirs back because of problems like this. I also read an artical about the scratching (from watch dog) that a member of TF was on, and his family, I hope he dont mind me posting this link

My 1st PS3 broke after 1 month. Sony replaced it with a reconditioned model pretty quick but it still felt like I was swapping new for old . and they said if I had a bluray or game stuck in it when it went back it wouldn't be returned which was pretty shocking IMO. Luckily the tray was empty.
But overall it was a quick service - less than a week to get it back if I remember right.
My first Xbox lasted 5 months before it got RRD and I was annoyed at the time as they were a pretty expensive piece of kit at launch. They're all as bad as each other in my book.
But looking on the bright side, at least you're getting it fixed for free
I've paid for the 2 year extra guarantee for Harv's because of so many going wrong. Didn't realise they would fix it for nowt if anything went wrong, and the guarantee is a waste of money or is just certain xboxes they will fix for nothing?
Think it just goes back under manufacturers guarantee regardless of retailer, for a number of problems anyway. Insurance may cover extra things, and i think they only take back the ones with what are essentially frequent product faults.
Im surprised we didn't get it though cos over the past few years we seem to have taken out extra cover on everything. I was reading this article (cant remember where) say thing that most 5 year warranties are worth the paper they are printed on. Cant say Iv put it in to practice to find out. Although I do need to call on my kitchen warranty as we have some faults that need sorting

My THIRD one broke recently, getting a E74 message. Got picked up by UPS, they get it to the German place in two days, they take a look at it and send out a brand new one. I'd be surpised if your Xbox isn't on it's way back by now
Got it back last friday, not had a chance to play with it as we have all the contents of the living room in the dinning room along wiht our TV (we are decorating). They sent us a new box with a letter of apology and a month free on xbox live. Supose we cant complain, least it cost us nothing. Just hope we dont have the same thing with this one...
