Also have a DS, it's awesome! Didn't take much of a shine to the DS when it was originally launched, mostly because I didn't think it looked too brilliant, but the DS lite looks alright enough.
Also, the only game I've played on DS where there's been voice recognition is Kawashima's Brain Training. That said, the DS has no trouble recognising what I'm saying - though I do recall an episode of Watchdog where they got that guy from Dead Ringers to do different voices at it and it sucked majorly.
Not got a DS, however with the new DSi due for release in Spring 09, may get one when they drop in price. G/f really wants one for the brain training and the novelty feature of the touch screen. I'm happy to play GBA games on it (like Harv says, they're a dozen to the pound). With the DSi coming out, she's been trying to convince me that this new one will be worth getting instead of the DS. Rubbish - mp3 player and camera in exchange for backwards compat!? We have a cameras and mp3 players - why would I want ANOTHER one for? At least with the DS you can get a crap lot of games cheaply (even if they don't use the touch screen).

Yeah, I think Nintendo might be shooting themselves in the foot a bit with the DSi. Not only because there's the lack of backward compatibility with GBA games, but also because that would make it impossible to play Guitar Hero: On Tour as it uses the GBA slot for the controls.
That said, GH: On Tour wasn't a particularly good game, but it'd still be annoying.
I had one, but sold it in exchange for a PSP and i wish i had done it A LOT sooner as i found the DS with no real depth to any of the games only wild world and a pure gimmick! Much like the Wii
