k im using angelfire to make my site, i edited some txt in the directory1

is what it is. It comes up all working ok when i click on the index.html on my computer, when i upload it to teh site builder the text doesnt work.

i got all the txt files in a txt directory. anyone know how to fix it?

The swf file for the templete works on a normal webserver but it doesn't work on angelfire. The swf can read the directories.txt file, just not the other txt files. Its text on the gray part im trying to get. i e-mailed the ppl who designed it, see what the ycome up with as no1 else has a clue

Your problem is not necessarily with your HTML.

I assume what you're doing is importing content from text files into the flash file for display, in which case the problem could be with the text files (named correctly and in the correct place?) or with the directories you're using on your webserver.

Without knowing how the flash file works, I have no idea how to help. If you have any instructions on how to use that flash file, please post them and I'll see what I can do.

•• PREVIEWING
Double click - "index.html".
Browse from one directory to another. Each directory has a different content.
Each design has and will have a different number of directories.

•• WHAT CHANGES CAN YOU MAKE TO YOUR CONTENT? You can:
Change the attributes of the text and the paragraphing.
Change Font face, Font size, Font color, Bold, Underline, Italic and Paragraph alignments
Create external links or forwarding email.

•• SOFTWARE TO EDIT THE TEXT FILES
Use any editing programs (a text editor) such as Note Pad or Word.

================----------BASIC EDITING----------===================

I have created this step by step tutorial for a beginner.
If you are more advanced you may skip it.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PRINT THIS README FILE FOR REFERENCE
TO HELP YOU EDIT THE TEMPLATE.
PLEASE REMEMBER DON'T RENAME OR MOVE THE FILES, KEEP THE SAME DIRECTORY STRUCTURE AS IS.

Each file has to be where I intended it to be when I designed the template.
You may rename the index.html.

NOTE: Before you start editing.
Please make an instant copy of the files that you just downloaded as a back up.
In case you accidentally delete some of the code line, then you can delete the version you
are working on and start over with a new copy, or correct the code line by referring to
your print copy.

•• WHICH FILES YOU NEED TO EDIT
All files inside "txt" folder.

•• PROCEDURES ON HOW TO EDIT THE TEMPLATE
We are assuming that you know basic computer skills such as going back and forth
between windows.

Double click the "txt" folder and you will see a number of text files.
These files consist of information that will be loaded to the flash file (look for the starburst icon).
Use your print out of ReadMe file for reference while you edit.

Double click "index.html" and keep it opens.
The purpose is to preview the change that you will make.

LET'S START EDITING! ------------------------------------------------------------------------

•• NAME YOUR NAVIGATION BUTTONS ("YOURCOMPANY", "Directory 1,2,3,4 and 5")
I highlighted with RED what we are going to change.
You will change the name of the company and the 5buttons.

Double click "directories.txt" (inside the txt folder)
It will open your computer default text editor.

You will see the code lines

DON'T GET PUT OFF BY ALL THESE CODES.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME.
If you delete any of the characters by mistake, this is not going to work.

Change the texts
YOUR COMPANY (the one with CAP, look for YOUR COMPANY, colored red)
... to MY COMPANY
Directory 1 to HOME
Directory 2 to ABOUT ME
Directory 3 to SERVICES
Directory 4 to PORTFOLIO
Directory 5 to CONTACT ME

" OnMouseOver " and " OnMouseClick "
Change these texts to any thing you want and you will see the effect when the mouse over the button
and when you click the button.
If you don't want this effect, insert the exact word that you insert for Directory 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

BE SURE! Don't delete these characters when substituting your own text.

Save the "directories.txt" (go to file and hit "Save")

Go to your browser of index.html and " Refresh " (located at the navigation bar of your browser)

Do you see the change you wanted? If not, you must have deleted one or more of the code
characters.
Go back to "directories.txt" refer to your print out copy and see which character or characters
that you have deleted and replace them.

Save and Refresh your browser, each time you make a change to the code line.

•• MAKE A CHANGE TO YOUR CONTENT PAGE
I highlighted with RED what we are going to change.
You will change the title and the content of Directory1.

Double click "directory2.txt" (inside the txt folder)

You will see this:

To change the TITLE of the content:

Change the text:

DIRECTORY 2 (look for DIRECTORY 1) to ABOUT ME

To change the TEXT of the content:

1. Select the text from START YOUR TEXT to YOUR TEXT END
By highlighting, then hit delete or Backspace.

2. Start typing your content.

3. Save the "directory2.txt" (go to file and hit "Save")
Go to your browser of index.html and " Refresh " (located at the navigation bar of your browser)

Do you see the change you wanted? If not, you must have deleted one or more of the code characters.
Go back to "directory2.txt" refer to your print out copy and see which character or characters
that you have deleted and replace them. And start over.

Save and Refresh your browser again.

If you have made the changes you wanted go to the next "directory" using the same steps as above.

•• UPLOADING THE FILES AGAIN DO NOT RENAME OR MOVE THE FILES, KEEP THE SAME DIRECTORY STRUCTURE AS IS.

Upload the index, the flash movie and the txt folder (with everything in it) to your server.

•• UPDATING THE TEMPLATE AFTER YOU UPLOAD THE FILES.
1. Open the text files that you want to update on your desktop.
2. Make your change and save.
3. Upload that text file again
4. Refresh your browser. Voila!
YOU DON'T NEED TO REUPLOAD THE INDEX OR THE FLASH MOVIE.
These templates were designed to generate contents from simple text files, for ease of site updating.
All you need to update is the text file.

==---- LIMITATIONS REGARDING THE USE OF OUR FREE TEMPLATES ---====

Below are things that you won’t be able to do with our FREE templates unless we tweak them:

1. Insert your own images or create tables.
2. Change the layout or logo, or add sub-links.
3. Create internal links inside the Flash movie.
4. Flash cannot generate images from a text file.
5. If you are using an older browser to preview these templates you may experience difficulties
with the display of text. According to Macromedia, there are 414 million users worldwide whose browsers CAN display Flash files properly.
