The Chronicles of Spellborn - open beta coming soon
I dont know if any one has been looking into this game but Iv been keeping one eye on it, mostly because I like Within Temptation and they do the theam music for it. It should be starting the uk open beta soon, Im gonna see what its like cos Im nosy
The Chronicles of Spellborn is an MMORPG that looks to take a bit of a different angle on the Fantasy genre. It is set on a world that has been blown apart and exists now only as a collection of shards in a storm. With a unique combat system and approach to PvP and gear, this game promises to deliver something different
i liked the look of it late last year, watched all the vids, read the lore,
i was quite looking forward to the open beta they announced to begin in april,
april came and went, no announcement on the site, then a few weeks later
they came with an announcement about shelving the open beta until the end of 2007
i kinda lost interest then after eagerly waiting open beta all those months,
so now i'm looking at AOC instead, as a lot of ex mir3/mir3/L2/WoW ppl i know,
and irl m8's have mentioned this game quite a lot.
Looks very nice, though the combat needs alot of work to me, it looks very bland and uninspiring, if it wants to compete with the bigger players that needs work.
I tried looking for updates on where things stand with TCoS but it looks like things are still in alpha testing!! So I went looking for some Q & A sessions and found these, yes they are a bit outdated but its all I could find. Im watching this game and have signed up for the beta testing... and still waiting!! heres the links
Skills, Comobs and Bodyslots, this is only the now closed thread which questions have been asked NOT the answers. When that gets posted Ill link that one too.
I wish they would get thier finger out, it seems an awful long time ago that I first saw the trailers for the game.
gonna go and see Within Temptation in Manchester in a few weeks,
funny how they changed the vid for 'the Howling' when they released it on their own ><

aww I want to go see Within Temptation but cash is tight at the mo, christmas is coming, time for things like that is the beginning of the year.
ah we always get the urge to go concerts at this time of year,
prolly cos we always say we'll find time to do the big festivals, but end up too busy,
saw the mancs academy gig guide on here, there tons of bands playing that i know,
and my cousin goes out round mancs a lot, it's only 40 mins away for us,
dunno what the deal is with Spellborn, i signed up on the site, yet there's no newsletter
or anything, had my eye on Age of Conan too, but thats been delayed now as well :S
Im not a big fan of pvp/arena stuff but I red through it anyway, it sounds ok, would just like the chance to give it a try!! Heres a pic of one of the arena areas.
Another set of questions and answers. It will be interesting to see whether this game lives up to is rep!

A Spotlight on Focus: An Interview with Spellborn Community Manager Pierre-Yves Deslandes
Posted October 22nd, 2007 by Micajah
Questions by Cody "Micajah" Bye
Answered by Pierre-Yves "Mirage" Deslandes, Community Manager for The Chronicles of Spellborn
Being an independent developer of any video game is no walk in the park. Without the backing of a huge corporate entity, most development studios wither away and die in a matter of years as the money simply dries up and vanishes. Creating an MMOG as an independent studio increases the difficulty level by extremes, ratcheting the money and time needed to create the game into an area that may be a developers worst nightmare.
However, the crew at The Chronicles of Spellborn seems to be doing a phenomenally successful job of creating a game and a company that can withstand the sort of pressure that's put on an MMOG studio. They recently unveiled a precise release date for the game (Q1 2008) and they're actually in the "polish and optimization" portion of the development phase. With that in mind, we sat down with Pierre-Yves "Mirage" Deslander, the company's community manager, to determine where the development team is currently focusing and some of the nitty-gritty details concerning Spellborn.
i feel now, that with the ongoing delays, and the long time this game has been coming,
that ppl will have got fed up by q1 2008, and either stick with what they have, or go play another mmorpg that comes out sooner.
Thats what I thought too but the forum is still very lively and there dosnt seem to be much *****ing about it either. So they seem to have been able to hang onto a loyal fan base, cant see how cos I lost interest for ages, only just started following the progress again.
Really is looking fantastic, can't wait to give this a go, hopefully not much longer.
Don't think there be anymore delays now, they really do seem to be just polishing up, and begining to crank up the advertising, so i'm hoping for a end of January open beta and feb/march launch.
Hopefully you guys will be around when it goes life, know i will be, nothing else out there currently interests me at all.
First time i've seen that trailer, and i keep close tabs on the website, which still seems pretty active even after the delays which seems a good sign.
