MSVR Cadwell - 6 Apr 08
First time at cadwell as a marshal - only been for training day before today. Still getting my footing and getting to grips with sign on procedures and the likes got posted to post 3 ( which I now know is charlies infield ) and on my drive round the circuit had to do 2 laps to find the right post
they stick the post numbers on the inside of the huts the wrong side of the post to see from the track so ended up searching all over for the right post ><.
Loads of racing today including the second outing for Josh Hill, Damon Hills young lad in the Ginettas which he performed in really well and got a podium finish.
It was the Ginetta festival so the races were all different classes of Ginetta cars. Apparently you can race in the club ginetta series for £320 per event
think i will stick to donning the orange probans for now
We had a car bomb out behind us with the fiberglass body ripped over itself like an old car bonnet with lots of steam and water oozing from the radiator and a bit of a dent/bend in the tubing but it didn't seem too bad compared to some we saw further round the circuit.
Highlight of the day being a car dropping its oil load all down the course between Park and Chris Curve only to have a fire needing the fire truck to go and attend to then spin on the oil left by the car
had a spot of hailstone during one of the races too - turned the circuit white in seconds but besides slowing down the next lot of cars a little for a few laps it cleared up and the remaining races were good. Had to have my card signed by the Chief Marshal - John Watson too as the guys on post with me didn't think they had the experience to sign.
