The Big DebateIf you feel the need to get your teeth stuck right into a heavy debate on a subject you feel really passionate about, then this is the place to do so. Post about religion, politics, laws and all things juicy like that here.
People have a vendetta against those that do fox hunt, not the fact that its a bit of a disgusting sport. Its not anything i would ever do, but people should have the freedom to do it.
yeah id go along with that.
you do get some people, mostly girls who go against it because they think foxes are cute, but they know jack about foxes, and if they looked like big tubeworm/slug things with luminous yellow trails, then nobody would mind.
for every fox that doesnt get killed due to the ban, i might just go and buy a kitten and beat its head off a wall. reset the equilibreum in the world. because im sure everyone must agree, that is a most important thingy.

It might start to get a bit expensive for you.
I'd suggest trying them cat shelter places, they like to give them away for free
foxes arent quite kittens... I'm basically against killing anything that does no harm even non poisonous spiders or tubeworms with luminous trails.
roaches, parasites, mosquitos or anything harmful I say blow those mofos off this planet but what exactly has foxes done to be hunted down and mauled by a dozen dogs?
if ppl are so into hunting something down why don't they hunt psychopaths, serial rapists, and serial killers in the manner which they hunt foxes but then again I'm against death penalties.
they kill chickens and sheep and stuff. and damage expensive fences.
......and if the farmer wants to kill them then fine, thats cool, just shoot them. No need to terrorise them first 4 mans ( supposedly a superior & more intelligent being than the fox ) pleasure & enjoyment.
seems a shame that something that is such a country side tradition shld be so contrary to aninal creulty, although i saw a program once were the fox in the foxhunt was replaced by a man although they dogs didnt eat him of course.
its diferent comparing foxhunting wich is a means of entertainment and apears cruel to the fox with farming where the animals are wel cared for and suposedly sluaghtered as humanly as posible rathert than savaged by a pack of dogs, or for that mater with pest control such as rats etc.
Chased and killed for food but not ripped apart by 30 dogs commanded by 20-30 toffs watching it for personal enjoyment, its nothing less than a snuff movie with animals.
So you have a problem with 'toffs' hunting? Would it be more agreeable if it was a working class/ urban sport? In fact if you read the statistics, a fox is VERY rarley caught, the sport it seems is more of a social occasion invloving horse riding. The fox is killed yes, but by enforcing the ban farmers are now employing more snare traps to kill foxes.. snare traps catch the fox fox and they starve or bleed to death.
urm...they kinda run the country?
Yes they do, but what is thier role as government? To serve the people and protect our liberties, not to enforce the will of others over a minority.
there is 10x (estimate maybe more?) the number of rats than humans and plenty of rabbits too theres no chance of them going extinct whereas the number of foxes is decreasing rapidly over the past few years
This is a load of rubbish, the fox population is not declining, where you heard that i would liek to know. If it was hunting would not have any significant impact on the fox population. You also miss the point, the ban protects the animal from 'cruel' hunting. What is their to say that hunting other animals not on the ban is in any way less or not cruel?
I don't really have a problem with toffs hunting but if fox hunting wasn't a toff pastime it would have been banned at the same time as dog fighting, badger baiting and all the other cruel sports.
Killing pests isn't the issue, if you kill rats you don't chase them over a long distance with a big pack of hounds, you kill them quickly. I went on a fox hunt when I was in Oz. They drove round in the ute and shot the bugger from a distance. No fuss, little mess and little cruelty.
I'll turn your last question on it's head, why is it ok for a bunch of people to have fun tormenting a fox before killing it, but it's illegal to do the same to cats or dogs?

Do the hunts people actually participate in the killing of the Fox? Fair enough if they get off their horse and start clubbing the fox to death with their bugle i'm against it but if as i suspect they just ride behind the hounds i see nothing wrong with it.
To me its like letting your cat out in the garden. The hounds are let loose i believe on private property where they have permission to hunt. The hounds then chase the fox and kill it the same way a cat would kill a mouse or a bird. Apart from the fact its organised i see no difference between the two.
Lets hope they see sense and leave badger baiting alone.
