Polygamy is the state or practice of having two or more mates at the same time, this includes both Polygyny (the union of one man with more than one woman - literally, ‘many females’) and Polyandry (the union of one women with more than one man: literally, ‘many males’). Polygamy is a social phenomenon that has existed for thousands of years in cultures around the world. Polygamy is believed by some to be condoned in the original texts of many faiths - in the Bible from Lamech’s marriage to Adah and Zillah in Genesis (4:23), to Joseph’s four wives (Gen 29-30). In Judaism, most of the prophets - God’s messengers - were polygamous. Solomon is said to have had 700 wives.
Anti-Polygamists say...

Plural marriage is immoral.
Polygamy re-defines marriage.
Pro-Polygamists say...
Polygamists oppose abuse.
Polygamy is only for consenting-adults.
Polygyny can benefit women.
Plural marriage is scriptural.
Polygamy historically outdates anti-polygamy.

What do you think?
An impossible and stupid idea, the tax payer would have to pick up the bill for all the kids. Remember, men can produce brats into their 70s
Im too jealous to let Andy marry more than one wife, and oh no, one husband is enough. Plural marriages are usually connected to religion. Where it is the law of the land to only have one spouse then regardless of religion that law should be honoured, you cant live a 'higher' law fully if you push a side local laws. In countries where it is legal, then let them get on with it. Any one wanting to do it should move to a country where they can do it within the bounds of the law. But its definitely not British
The thing I do like about marriages where the man has more than one wife is that those women all support each other in the raising of the children, housework, and day to day chores, which would be good for those women who don't have a family support network around them, and for that reason, if all the women are consenting and of legal age and happy then why not. Me personally, I couldn't share my other half because for me love is a binding of minds and bodies and when you are with that one you love, especially in love making, you forget all your problems and concentrate on pleasing each other, and how could you do that if you're thinking, oh the other wife has a nicer bum, or I wish I was with wife number 4 cos her boobs haven't dropped to the floor.
Now me having more than one hubby..... spose I'd get the DIY done a little quicker

Spot on Sash, therein lies the silliness of having more than one legally binding wife. Under EU Equal Rights laws it would be impossible to deny woman the same privileges. The legal vultures would have a field day.
Here's another point, how many of us men would like our wife comparing us with another one in her collection ?
I think its fine if people really want that, but you shouldnt be able to turn a monogomous marriage into a pologomous one. Otherwise youd end up with one married partner marrying someone else and not caring.
From a legal point of view im sure its a total pain to work out and there would be some bizarre couplings from bisexuals for example. You could end up with relationships where a guys married to 3 wives and his bisexual male friend is married to 2 of his wives and him but not the last etc etc, like an immense spiderweb. Typically in pologamy where say the guy has a few wives, its just 1 marriage per time, but if they all wanted to marry all the adults in their family, like in some bizarre orgy cult, it would just get insane. 5 people would need (i think) 24 weddings to marry eachother and 6 people... 120 weddings lol
Anyone ever watch Big Love? The american tv series about a fictional mourmon guy with mutliple wives. Its a bad show, but it does bring up some interesting aspects, such as the guy and his 2 wives having to decide if theyre happy with a new potential 3rd wife.
Heinlein defined a family as a group of adults working together to provide economic and emotional support to each other, and to encourage the raising of children.
Ella Grasso (first female governor in the US), when asked how she was handling all the extra executive duties, responded: "I need a wife." Note that this was in the early 70s.
Monogamy is for consenting adults too, except in those cultures where they think it's OK to marry off 12 year-olds.
A comedian had this riff: If your marriage is like a house, then sex is like the bathroom - you don't spend a lot of time there, but you'd like it to be nice.
If anyone is still confused, I'm pro-spice.
Spice is the plural of spouse - but you knew that.

Nice metaphors and analogies but ...................lets get back to the real world
