Personally, I feel it's been stupidly blown out of all proportions, made far worse by thr masses jumping on the witch hunt style bandwagon that is the 18,000+ complaints that have been made and people like Gordon Brown getting involved.
Far worse goes on on TV, you just have to look at the Graham Norton show to see it almost every show. Christ, tune into E! most late evenings for the celebrity dirt shows and they'd laugh at how damn tame this has been, they commit regular slander every single show.
Rediculous, BBC World News has spent the last 2 hours pretty much covering nothing but this, yet in Pakistan an earthquake has cost hundreds of people their lives today.
Tbh I thought, who cares. They both attract millions of viewers so the BBC won't sack them just make out they've been given a wrap on the knuckles. But like I said, who cares, the government especially shouldn't, there's a lot more important things to sort out than silly phone calls by over-rated comedians.

It was in my eyes slander and they should be punished, losing there jobs with the BBC won't make a scrap of difference to them some other channel/station will snap them up anyway they should be punished by Law.
Ross's whole career has been pushing the pre watershed limits, and slandering other celebs into the ground, they are the one's that keep asking him to co host award ceremonies etc, knowing full well there will be a raft of controversy,once he steps up to the plate and starts talking,
I think the suspensions are just a blow-over measure, they'll both be back at full rip

As far as I was aware the bosses at the BBC are the ones who have made the cock up. They telephoned the chap who's granddaughter it is (Manuel from faulty towers) and asked if it was OK to air the prank calls and they got it wrong. The assumed it was OK and it wasn't. So yes they are prats for doing the call in the first place but the ones really at fault are those who reviewed the show and didn't bin it.
Even sillier is that she admits to sleeping with Russell Brand, so he wasn't lying.. also she is a burlesque dancer with a web page called satanic ****s, so I don't think she really is that bothered over the publicity seeing as she isn't whiter than white.. I think it was a shame they upset the old chap, but it's not as if world war 3 broke out.

Jonathan Ross probably shouldn't have used the word 'fucked' because Sachs is an old square but it was after 10 o'clock at night so nobody except Sachs has any right to complain about it. Looks like theres no slander, 2 offensive (ish) comedians pushing the limits a litle and offending some old dude who is probably more upset cos he just found out what she gets upto BBC will suspend them for face and theyll be back in 2 weeks once its died down as normal.

what the hell the prime minister stuck his nose in for is beyond me and as others (18,000 complaints ) after only 2 during the actual show are just jumping on the "I hate one or both of the presenters" band wagon.
They crossed the line and had to apologise. Nuff said really. The press win another battle of push a story and get a result and two more celeb's bite humble pie and get a re-negotiation of contract.
So 18,000 squares and nutters (nuts because they obviously didn't listen to the actual show 11 days ago) have managed to deprive about 800,000 listeners of some entertainment. Brand has resigned.
It's bloody tyranny by minority, I hope those 18,000 miserable old busybodies die from the cold this winter.

It's a load of crap. There were only 2 complaints after the show aired, until it all got some publicity from papers, then people hearing the story 2nd and 3rd hand decide to complain because they're busybodies with nothing better to occupy themselves with.
Thought it was pretty funny on the news that they commented Gordon Brown had nothing to say about the refugee displacement in the congo and stuff, but had time to reprimand some TV personalities.
I actually didn't like Russell Brand very much before all this happened, but I have a soft spot for the underdog and he's starting to grow on me now, he seemed really humble on the electric proms when Noel Gallacher (sp?) gave a shout out to him.

wow , compassion . I don't think it's about being found out , for me it's more about using a sexual encounter to cause deliberate hurt , disguised as being funny . If they'd just been joking about exposing a sex act i wouldn't mind so much . Being a celebrity affords you certain benefits but also takes away your total privacy. This guy isn't famous any more, and his granddaughter certainly isn't famous (as far as I know anyway). What they did was childish and witless.
