Total Format Unexpected 6 Day Absense
I don't think anyone who has visited Total Format in the last 6 days could have helped noticing the fact that the site was shut down.
Firstly, i'd like to apologise on behalf of 1&1 Internet Hosting for their blatent lack of being able to sort out a problem which was their fault in the first place.
Ok, It's pretty simple, 1&1 had informed Total Format that they had to perform some server upgrades to keep the server nicely secure and up to date, which should have taken 30 minutes max and should have been a really smooth operation. However, what happened can only be described as a nightmare...
What should have taken 30 minutes, resulted in it taking them 6 days to do, fix, refix and fail to inform me of progress at any stage, despite 8 phone calls to 3 different departments, totalling nigh on 5 hours and 14 different support agents, 7 emails and no response at all to any of them without me constantly chasing them up. You can imagine what my email to their complaints department is going to be like when I compsoe it.
Suffice to say, the claim to have patched the server on Day 3, which they obviously did as certain bits started workig again, yet the problems I first highlighted remained knackered and that took them another 3 days to sort. Something which between me and Harv, we worked out was a simple problem that should have taken a trained techie less than 30 mins to put right.
Anyway, here we are, the site is open for business again, albeit in a state of being monitored and tested still for problems which were not found earlier.
Thanks for your patience, oh and I guess the speech I made about this being an uninterupted year for TF on the 5th anniversary thread I made in January has already turned out to jinx me. ><
Hopefully fingers crossed, TF should not need to shut down again and should hopefully remain stable and as normal...
