love these movies, im just not a "follower" of them/read mags etc..
was hopeing you knowledgeable peeps out that can recommend some good films for me to "purchase legally" < of course

Ive seen Akira, FFVII Advent children , Legend of the Demon womb etc..

neon genesis evangelion is a very popular and very very good anime, has a series n 2 movies i think? well thats wot i got anyway. ull like this is if ur into the whole japanese humour, big mechs, end of the world kinda thing.

macross/macross plus. macross plus the movie is probably one of my fav animes of all, looks amazing, plus theres some wicked dog fights in it and the jets turn into mechs aswell so lol

Martian Successor Nadesico. my fav anime series. set in space so expect lots of fights etc, VERY funny, just all round brilliant

X the series/X the movie. if u like hand to hand combat with the aid of magic etc, katanas n wot have ya, then this is a good pick. the series is better than the film but its still very good.

Ghost in the shell 1/2/series. all brilliant, ghost in the shell is one of the most popular animes ever made, and influcenced "The Matrix".

Appleseed, ground breaking visuals, if ur into future warfare then this is a good one to check out

wud put some more on, but im starving n need some food lol.

I think im the only person alive who really didnt like Ghost In The Shell. It was ok, but the series especially, dragged on, i thought. Along with tons of dialogue that contributed little to the storyline ><

I was pleasantly suprised at the bebop movie. I thought it might ruin the series a little, but it was very enjoyable.

Yea, i enjoyed macross quite a bit too. And also Black Jack, but i think thats a kind of "love it or hate it" thing.

I liked Ghost in the Shell... not seen the series, though... So for my birthday, I'm asking my sis to get me the movie and cd1 of the series (think it's the first 3 eps?)...

Black Jack? Is that the doctor one? Not a fan of that one =/

First movie I saw was LensMan... Starts off ok, but it starts to drag and has a lousy ending =/
Same with DevilMan...
I'd heard a lot of hype about Akira, but it's the sort of thing you can only enjoy the first time watching it... watch it any more and you tend to lose interest >.<

I've got the japanese version of Macross Plus with subs, and have to say I preferred the Euro version more =/ There's LOTS missing in the Jap version... A fight scene here... a bit of plot there... Although, for some reason the song at the end of the movie starts off in japanese (I'm assuming it's Japanese?) then goes into English o.0

I'm really into sci-fi/action anime... a friend recommended PerfectBlue saying it was great... so I go out and get that... it's a drama >.< Not my cup of tea =/ When my parents asked to watch one of my DVDs that they've not seen (having watched all their dvds and no good movies being on that night), my dad thought Perfect Blue was cartoon **** xD

Appleseed 2004 is really good if you're into the mobile-type sorta anime movies.

A anime series i would recommend is Samurai 7. It's a little short (20 something odd episodes, like 24 or 25) but amazing quality anime, and a great storyline

Aside from some of the ones already mentioned, Mononoke Hime/Princess Mononoke is pretty good as well.
