| Ages of Athiria Athiria is a world of powerful warriors, scholarly scribes, colorful jesters, menacing wizards, and hustling merchants. It is a world where the savagery of the middle ages is present along with all of its risks. It is a world where the resulting rewards foster epic stories that bards sing for years to come and that scribes write about for centuries. |

Will I be able to go on quests with my character?
Yes, your character will be able to go on static quests, player-created quests, and dynamic quests. How do I receive a quest? You can receive a quest in several different ways, the most common way being to speak with an NPC about the quest. The quest you receive will vary in task and reward based on your skill set. Guilds and player-run cities also have the ability to give you a quest for a reward. Talk to the officials of the city or the guild to learn what services you might be able to provide for them in exchange for payment. The quest will appear in your own personal quest journal and as you complete each part of the quest, your quest journal will be updated accordingly. How do I interact with an NPC? The most common way to interact with an NPC will be to walk up to them and greet them. Sometimes NPCs will interact with you without you initiating the contact. What do I get for doing a quest? The reward for successfully accomplishing a task or quest will vary. Will there be unique items in the game? There will be unique items of great power in the world of Athiria. What types of quests are there? There will be several different types of quests given out in the game. The currently released types are: Trade Quest - Player driven "Fed-Ex" quests to keep goods moving throughout the economy. Destiny Quests - Large elaborate quests involving many players. More details on the other types of quests will be made available in the future. What is a trade quest(TQ)? Trade Quests are created by the AI system when a player talks to a NPC in the employ of a PC merchant. Prior to the interaction with the player, the PC merchant has used our in-game interface to configure the needs of their business as well as the offerings for sale. NPC employees will be able to look at these needs and build dynamic single use (or possibly recurring) "FedEx" quests. The money for the quests will be charged to the business as an expense against the business and will be awarded to the first player to return the proper item to a NPC employee of the business. In essence we have automated the "Fed-Ex" quests of other games and connected them to the needs of our player owned businesses. This should create an endless stream of delivery quests for the enterprising young courier to make money from. What are Destiny Quests? Destiny Quests are special quests that involve a large number of people to complete. The results of these quests are typically world changing in nature. It might be the release of a new skill or knowledge that enables players to do more. It could be a quest for a powerful artifact. Players do not seek out Destiny Quest's for themselves. There are no NPCs in game that hand them out. Instead, the quest is defined by certain events that must take place. In this manner it could be possible for one player to participate in the first part of the quest and have another player complete it. One of the exciting applications of the Destiny Quest is the idea of releasing new technologies to the world. An example might be the discovery of techniques that allows one to build ocean worthy boats. |
