Interesting thread this and teflon is basically correct in the military context except Napolean (and us) didn't give a monkeys about the innocent casualties of war. Every effort is now made by the USofA, Europe, and many other countries to avoid this now
Those who do not are just savages in my view. Back to history. a clever chap once told me; "You can't know where you're going unless you know where you've been" Fine we may think until we consider Henry Ford's quote, "history is bunk" ! Why did Henry Ford dismiss history as bunk ? - it depends who writes it and for what reason !
