A sci-fi war movie... (don't all groan at once)
Written and directed by Daniel Myrick (The Blair Witch Project)
The Objective is the story of a CIA man and an elite group of American soldiers who travel into darkest Afghanistan to investigate some odd things the spy satellites have spotted.
It starts out seeming like one of the rash of recent (Afghans and Iraqis are alright people you know!) films, god help us, but thankfully it doesn't keep that up for very long.
The CIA guy pretty much keeps the troops in the dark about what their 'Objective' is right the way through, need-to-know and all that. But weird things start happening to them and it becomes increasingly obvious that it isn't actually the Taleban doing it.
To say much more would be spoiler-ific, but the ending is one of the most completely bonkers, off-the-wall endings I have seen for quite some time.
It's alright, not super-fantastic, but one of those films which would probably pass you by unnoticed, and if you like this sort of thing you may thank me for drawing it to your consideration.
