I was waiting for it too, id watched the football and forgotten about Top Gear, kept checking until 10:30pm, then checked again after midnight and it worked but was shitey streaming only.
Id started it coming down on eztv but that didnt finish until like 2am for some reason and by then id watched it streaming on iplayer.
Like you say, the legality of it and lengths they go to for it is silly. I had it recorded on sky+ in proper quality but tv was busy, iplayer was shite, so i end up torrenting it anyway :S
