Top Gear is back +iPlayer gripe
Top Gear, one of the world's most popular programmes is back for a frankly rubbish amount, 6 episodes. I missed it earlier because I was out watching the Soccerball Italy Spain.
But I watched it on my computer when I got in and it was fun as usual and that 430 was monstrous. If only it didn't have that gay stripe it would be one of the awesomest cars.
So I got home about half 11 and clicked on iPlayer and no Top Gear yet. It probably takes them a few hours to sort it all out so no problem there really. I happened to peruse eztv.it and it was up there already so I decided to start the download from them but planned to switch over to iPlayer as soon as they put it up.
Eventually iPlayer did have Top Gear on it, about midnight, but it was streaming only and no downloads. Possibly because everyone knows how to crack their DRM and even if you don't, a quick google search will show you how.
But I don't want to watch a crappy pixellated version of fine Italian supercar lines for 10 minutes until it cuts out and crashes my modem with it. Which happens all the time. So I just carried on downloading the non-DRM version from what is arguably an illegal source, even though I pay my license fee for this show to be delivered through iPlayer.
The BBC have their heads up their butts not allowing downloads of Top Gear, it won't proliferate the illegal distribution to foreign non-license paying countries, they can already get it from groups like 'Angelic', all it does it push entitled viewers like myself away from their service because it is of a lesser quality.
They are doing the same with the football, which may be because of a rights issue, but Top Gear is wholly owned by BBC and this is just ridiculous.
As a protest I am going to get any future BBC shows that eztv.it carry, from them. Until the BBC give us fee-payers what we actually bloody pay for.
Pixellated buffering modem-crashing nonsense.
