I have never tried sending an email from a PC, but i am pritty sure it has nothing to do with an SD card.
SD card can only get wii stuff on it if you manually move it to there and wont act as an automatic hard drive.
I think its just the imitation Nintendo have sent, i recon they just intended it for mainly text base messages.
