No, that is called ignorance and as I said before, he is simply trying to shock people with his comments and attitude.
Just because he says that kind of thing doesn't mean he won't instantly regret it the second a female friend of his gets raped (theoretically)
He doesn't actually mean it, it sounds to me like he just enjoys winding people up about it, especially you because you react this way.
